This Month On Coil: My May Recap
Wow. Here we are, coming up on June – 2020 is halfway over already. Time's arrow marches on, and so does Coil! Here's what I was up to online this past month:
I started off May the way I always do: with my birthday! I turned 21 on the 3rd, and even though I couldn't go out to a bar or party with friends, I was able to spend a nice date night in with my boyfriend and create my dream charcuterie board! I ate ridiculous amounts of cheese (and some wine) for my birthday dinner, and it was totally worth it.
A beautiful sight to behold.
I also kicked off my first formal foray into the world of freelancing, making my writing services available on Fiverr.
I've since gotten a couple of my first gigs, writing bios for artists to use on their website or Spotify page. It's pretty satisfying to get directly hired and paid for something that (1) I'm good at and (2) enjoy doing!
I was trying to find some new material to blog about; after posting almost every day in April, I needed to shake things up to keep the creative juices flowing. So I decided to start taking musical trips down memory lane, and revisited my monthly mixtapes from years past.
Monthly Mixtape, Throwback Edition: May 2018
It brought back so many memories that I would have otherwise forgotten about, and I'm pretty excited to continue going through my past years of music in future posts.
This one is the post this month that I think was kind of underrated - I started designing fun, colorful wallpapers on Canva, and I'm very proud of what I've done so far. If your computer needs a refresh, check this one out!
5 Creative Wallpapers For Your Desktop!
Mental and emotional stress eventually caught up to me, and I got through it okay, but not before I finally joined the ranks of countless creators who make a post about burnout.
Some exciting news for the Coil universe came next: Uphold became the latest and greatest wallet provider for streaming micropayments, the XRPTipBot, trading all typed of cryptocurrency, and (my favorite) transferring USD!
A few days after I got my new payment pointer set up, I was very pleasantly surprised to earn my largest boost to date by a long shot:
Plugging away and creating some real quality content while I was home from work all of April really did pay off. I posted a total of 25 articles in the 30 days of the month, and received a total of 203 upvotes, which averages out to about 8 upvotes per post.
I treated myself by ordering some clothing pieces I've had my eye on for a while, and bought a super cute new desk for my new room in my apartment! One thing that quarantine hasn't put a stop to is my fashion sense and love for online shopping!
I ended the month of May by getting two features in a row, wow! First, by categorizing my favorite types of music:
My Many Musical Styles: A Classification
...and then featuring one of my favorite local coffee spots:
Small Business Spotlight: The Plymouth Coffee Bean
Finally, drum roll please, I hit my 100th post!
It was quite a month, and summer is finally starting here in Michigan, so I can't wait for June to kick off )and hopefully get the world a little more back to normal).
