Brenna Shea makes catchy, acoustic R&B tunes – think Kehlani meets Tori Kelly. She's a Detroit native, attending the Detroit Institute of Music Education (DIME) and performing at my local venues (back when concerts were allowed to happen). This single is part of her debut EP, Mixed Emotions, that was just released yesterday.

This song is among my favorites on the six-song release, with a more cheerful, guitar-led feel, and some sweet acoustic drums instead of the usual hip-hop drum pads. The lyrics are about leaving behind an old life and being independent, hopeful for the future, and ready to live a new life.
