For today's single review, I'm deviating from my usual local scene in Michigan and taking a trip down south, to my good friend's band in Nashville, Tennessee!
This is the debut release for Res Ipsa Loquitor, a four-piece rock band whose name means “the thing speaks for itself”. It's a mouthful, but I think it's pretty darn clever.
The song has a distinctive riff, powerful vocals, and a chorus that has some get-stuck-in-your-head power. My favorite feature of the track, however, is the midpoint, where everything cuts out, and it goes to an interlude/bridge hybrid, where mellow instrumentals build back up into the electric guitar solo.
“Leader” features skillful drumming from my old friend Seth Huff, who also recorded and produced the song. Vocals are provided by Lucas Mcilvenna, guitars by Lucas and Gabe Page, and bass by Luke Huff (Seth's brother!).
